Hey,

Seven years ago, I was a fresher, facing my first real interview. I walked into the cool, room, the AC blasting. My palms were slick, my heart hammered, and my mind, well, my mind was a jumbled mess. Despite having the answers, the words wouldn't come. I stammered, stuttered, and ultimately left feeling disappointed at my worst interview experience.

That was my interview rock bottom. But instead of letting it define me, I used it as fuel. I researched, practiced, and honed my interview skills, turning that initial freeze into confidence.

Now, after acing countless interviews myself, I'm sharing the battle-tested tips I learned along the way. These aren't just words on a page; they're the tools that helped me build my interview confident.

Feeling anxious during an interview is completely normal, and it's something that can be easily overcome with the right strategies.

Here are some excellent tips to boost your confidence and help you ace your next interview:

1. Master your introduction: Prepare a concise and impactful one-minute introduction that highlights your skills and experience. Practice reciting it until it feels natural, allowing you to deliver it confidently and smoothly.

2. Make eye contact: While maintaining eye contact can be challenging in virtual interviews, practice looking directly at the camera instead of the screen when answering questions. This will project confidence and create a stronger connection with the interviewer.

3. Power pose before the interview: Engaging in power poses before your interview can significantly boost your confidence and reduce stress. These poses signal power and can trick your brain into feeling more confident. You will be surprise with the results!

4. Volume up: When answering questions, speak in a clear, strong voice, but avoid shouting. Don't mumble and have a slightly louder than normal voice while answering this will show confidence, even if you're feeling anxious.

5. Take control of the silence: Don't be afraid of short pauses when answering challenging questions. Take a few deep breaths to gather your thoughts, and calmly inform the interviewer if you need additional time. Jot down key points on a piece of paper to organise your thoughts and structure your response logically.

6. Embrace the unknown: Don't be discouraged if you can't answer every question perfectly. Interviewers understand that not everyone will have all the answers, and they value the ability to learn on the job. If unsure, politely acknowledge it and ask for clarification or move on to the next question.

7. Ask insightful questions: Prepare thoughtful questions to ask the interviewer at the end. This will show them your genuine interest in the opportunity and the company. Aim for questions that showcase your knowledge and research about the role and the organisation.

8. Smile and connect: A genuine smile during introductions and goodbyes can create a positive and human connection with the interviewer.

Feeling overwhelmed? I am here to help!

Hi Jagruti,

Don't get disheartened. Follow few tips and I hope you will gain confidence and be successful in interviews.

1.Think positive.

2.Practice mock interviews in exactly same fashion as you are going to appear in a real one. Dress formally and practice how to present yourself, your body language etc.

3.You can do this standing in front of a mirror and also get help from your friend.

4.Having an eye contact with the interviewer helps build up confidence.

5.Work on the traits you think are weak in you.

6.Prepare the possible answers and rehearse them as many times as you can.

7.Research on the subject, latest updates in your field.

8.Do not reply in a hurry. Be cool, humble and practice answering thoughtfully. Interviewer keep an eye on your way of replying also.

9.Meditation, deep breathing exercise will also help you a lot.

Hope this helps you , best wishes always.

It's completely natural to feel a lack of confidence, especially when preparing for interviews. Remember that building confidence is often a gradual process. First and foremost, be patient with yourself and acknowledge that it's okay to have moments of self-doubt. 🌱

To boost your confidence, consider practising mock interviews with a friend or mentor. Simulating interview scenarios can help you become more comfortable with the process and provide valuable feedback for improvement. Additionally, continue your preparations, reviewing your technical knowledge and rehearsing common interview questions. Knowledge is a powerful confidence builder. Lastly, remember that confidence is closely tied to self-belief. Remind yourself of your achievements and skills, and visualise yourself succeeding in the interview. With persistence and a positive mindset, your confidence will grow over time. πŸš€πŸ’ͺ🌟

If you are preparing from past 2 months still not confident, then try giving mock interviews, contest as this will improve your confidence once you see yourself successfully solving questions during that.

if you are not able to solve problems during mock interview or contest then may be you need to change the approach for preparation. below points will help to create a better plan:

  1. Start solving coding question on your favorites platform like interviewbit, leetcode, gfg.
  2. Learn DSA theory from Geeksforgeeks.
  3. If you are beginner then start solving easy question 1st once you gain confidence there, go to medium and then hard question.
  4. Try to solve easy question in 20 min, medium 30 min, hard in 40-50 min. its better to see the solution if u are not able to solve the question within this time frame.
  5. After solving question, Try to check out solution posted by other students because sometime we can learn good trick by seeing different solutions.
  6. Practice 1-10 question/day and try to maintain consistency.
  7. Number of question solved does not matter, the thing that matters is if you have understood the topic well and are able to solve question from that topic easily.

Hope I answered your question. You can reach out to me in case of any more doubt.
