Let's first understand the differences. Data Science is a field which involves analyzing large sets of data to derive insights and make predictions. It requires a good understanding of mathematics, statistics and programming. If that is your field of interests, go for it. There always will remain a huge potential for data science.

Web development on other hand would involve understanding Frontend frameworks like React, Flutter, Angular and you can also combine understanding of backend development that would make you a full fledged expert in development.

If you are in college, you can explore both the fields one by one and I would say that you should start with web development and if you don't find it interesting, then try the data science domain. Learning coding in web development would anyways help in the data science domain too.
